Mr. Stuart "Stu" Bailey of Camrose, Alberta passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the age of 84 years. Stuart Gunn Bailey passed away peacefully on May 3, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose Alberta at the age of 84. Stuart, "Gunner", was born August 20, 1928 in Edmonton, Alberta to Theo and Babe Bailey and was raised in Camrose, Alberta. Stuart attended University of British Columbia and played hockey with the UBC Thunderbirds. He graduated from Pharmacy at University of Alberta and entered his fathers pharmacy business in Camrose, Alberta. Eventually he opened Stuart Bailey Drug and continued his practice for about 15 years. He finished his pharmacy career as an auditor inspector for the Alberta Pharmacy Association. Stuart Married Thelma Tennant in 1954 and they raised four lovely daughters. He lost Thelma to breast cancer in 1988 and subsequently married Melva Bailey. They had 17 years of happiness before Melva succumbed to cancer. At 78 years of age he began a new life with one more great lady, Lorna Holmes. They were married in July 2007 and enjoyed six years of travel, golf and fun. Stuart's passion was hockey. His team at UBC was inducted into the sports hall of fame. He played hockey with the Camrose Maroons and then the Goodtimers and continued to skate regularly until December 2012. He had many other interests including golfing, flying, traveling, barbershop quartet, skiing, water skiing, snorkeling, and he even liked to roller blade. He was a member of many clubs including rotary, masons, school board, flying club and on April 19 was recognized for 60 years of service to the Legion. Stuart was very involved in the Camrose community and its development throughout his life. Stuart had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that will be missed by all of his many friends and neighbors. He provided an example to all by living life to the fullest. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorna, his children Cindy (Les) Gordichuk and their children, Max (Kaitlin) and Lee; Dawn Bailey and her children Bailey and Kate Skaret; Norma Bailey (Herb) and their son Thad, and Bonnie (Jacques) Lachapelle and their children Chet and Sophie. We were all blessed by Stu's presence in our lives. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Camrose United Church (4829 - 50 Street) with Mary Ann Pastuck officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Hospital or the charity of one's choice.
