Obituary of Clifford "Cliff" Lassesen

Mr. Clifford Raymond Lassesen of Camrose passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the age of 84 years. Clifford "Cliff" Raymond Lassesen, was born on February 13, 1929 in Bawlf, Alberta to Elef and Hannah Lassesen. He was one of seven children raised on the homestead farm at Gladstone. Cliff schooled in the Gladstone area and helped on the family farm. He met and married Kathleen Makarowski on February 9, 1953. To this union they had three children. After separating from Kathleen, he married Mary Perkin on September 21, 1974 uniting his children and Mary's three sons into one family. For 30 years Cliff and Mary enjoyed their love for: camping, fishing, gardening, going to watch curling and Kodiak hockey, and having coffee with the gang a McDonalds. In July of 2004 he lost the love of his life. Where ever Cliff went Mary was with him and it left him lost. He continued to coffee with the gang he and Mary enjoyed being with. Ida Wilbern was part of that coffee gang and they struck up a companionship and could be seen everywhere together. Ida was a wonderful companion to Cliff and remained so to the end. Left to cherish his memory are his companion Ida Wilbern; his children Susan (Ron) Fowler of Edberg, Beverly Lassesen of Red Deer, Barry Lassesen (Sharon Wolf) of Duhamel, Lorne Perkin (Margaret Zak) of Ohaton, and Leighton Perkin of Camrose; daughter in-law Susan Perkin; one sister Elda Olofson of Camrose, 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Cliff was predeceased by his wife Mary; son Lowell Perkin; brothers Palmer, Arnold and Melvin; and sisters Doris and Norma. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Alan Richards officiating. Interment will take place in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
