Obituary of David Graham

Dave arrived on December 30, 1990 at St. Mary's Hospital and was welcomed by his Mom and Dad, brothers Calvin and Matthew and sister Jennifer. Dave spent the first five years of his life in Camrose. Just before starting kindergarten he moved to Terrace, B.C. with his Mom. Dave lived there until he was fifteen when they moved to Calgary. A short time later Dave moved to Camrose with his Dad and Carolyn. David always enjoyed being outside. Dave could spend hours on the shore in Prince Rupert turning over rocks and watching the crabs scurry off. Infinite patience was needed when walking with him as no one could walk slower or be distracted by more shiny things…the four block walk to the grocery store in Terrace could take forty-five minutes. He really enjoyed cross-country skiing for a couple of winters until he discovered snowboarding around ten and there was no going back. Dave spent many, many hours snowboarding on Shames Mountain near Terrace. Dave began playing guitar when he was quite young. In grade six Dave did a project on a Greek god where he wrote a poem and set it to Stairway to Heaven, performing it at a school assembly…and so began his performances. Dave struggled in school, his mind just did not work in the orderly manner the school wanted it to follow. There were teachers that reached him and those that screamed and ran. He had great experiences at PACE where the carrot of playing music with others helped him a lot. Dave was a master at being hired…he started more jobs in the past eight years than most will apply for in a life time. He enjoyed landscaping, snow removal, roofing and restaurant work. Dave has many friends who remember that whatever you did with Dave he made it fun. Wherever Dave went he had friends and would talk to everyone. Left to his cherish his memory are his parents Barry Graham (Carolyn Metcalfe); Joanne Nyback; brother Calvin (Lisa Stile), Conner, Emily and Brooke Graham; brother Matthew Graham (Robin Kirby); sister Jennifer Graham and Penelope Graham-DeWolfe; step-brother Bradley Metcalfe; step-sister Sheri-Lynn Metcalfe (Greg Snook), Marshall Koch and Isaac Snook; grandparents Doreen Collins and Myron and Doreen Graham as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins along with friends wherever he has been. David was predeceased by his grandfather Lawrence Nyback. A Funeral Service was held 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2013 from Century Meadows Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Auperlee officiating. Cremation has taken place. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Camrose Open Door, or to the Canadian Mental Health.
