Obituary of Shirley Bennett

No one really knows when Shirley was born, but it happened in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to Norma and John Graham. Shirley lived with her parents in Lac La Biche, then Red Deer. She felt proud and blessed to have David, Danny, Barb, Janet and Susan as her siblings. She met Gerald at a camp meeting and married in 1959. They attended ABI from 1957-1961 and made many great life-time friends. They moved to Swan Hills and started a family. They had four children starting with Karen, then Carla, Pam and 11 months later, Chris. While in Quesnel, Shirley had a café. They moved to Vernon in 1972 and Shirley worked at a chick hatchery and then at the school district. In 1995, Shirley moved back to Camrose and worked at St Mary's Hospital. She enjoyed life here and developed many cherished friendships. Shirley was loved by all who knew her, happy to share with others and was exceptionally giving to charities. Shirley valued family, cherishing her sisters and brothers in-law, Loretta, Barb, Baird, Ivan, and Allan; and her son and daughter in-law Andy and Michell. She loved being connected to the families of her siblings and believed she was blessed having 13 grandchildren and one great grand-child, Ambur, Shelby, Ben, Devann, Brittany, Kristen, Amanda, Lauren, Cassie, Nathan, Drew, Erica, and Connor, and now Mikael. She loved knowing their activities, staying active texting, skiing, rollerblading, and Facebooking them. Shirley was a devoted, loving wife. Shirley was a strong compassionate woman deeply loved by her family and friends. A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of God Camrose (4722 55 Street) with Rev. Brian Krushel officiating. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or the charity of one's choice.
