Obituary of Harry Balko

Please share a memory of Harry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
After a week spent at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends, Harry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Harry married Helen Panas on November 15, 1958 at Kopernick church. To this union three children were born: Darrell, Colleen, and Lavonne. They farmed in the Holden/Daysland area until 1978, when they moved to Camrose and Harry continued trucking until his retirement. Harry enjoyed a good meal of potato pancakes, perogies, playing Hola and Solitaire. In later years, he enjoyed golfing, puttering around in the garden, and doing puzzle books with mom. Another enjoyment was going out for their daily coffee and having visits with friends. We, the family, would like to say a special thank you, to dad's special caregiver and friend, Charlene, her son Chaess, and their extended family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his children Darrell (Phyllis) of Camrose, Colleen (Ryan) Rose of Camrose, and Lavonne (Shane) Evans of Camrose; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law Lois, Olga, Lillian, Jeannette, and Teresa; and one brother-in-law John. Harry was predeceased by his wife Helen, five brothers and five sisters. Harry will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. A prayer vigil will be held on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. A Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Faryna and Rev. Slavko Dumec officiating. Interment will follow in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
