Please share a memory of October to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
October Lynne Fleming of Camrose, formerly of Toronto, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the age of 28 years. October was born at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, on October 9, 1984. A special blessing for John and Alberta and a little sister for Andrew. She went to school in Toronto. October was an honor roll student throughout. As a very active child she turned her energy into gymnastics at which she excelled and won many medals. While doing gymnastics, October decided to take ballet to aid with her poise and posture. Her next adventure turned to Girl Guides at which she attended from Sparks to Pathfinders. Even during all these activities she found time to participate in a bowling league. Boy could she get the ball down the lane in a hurry. October was always out to help anyone who needed it. She was a volunteer at the Out of the Cold program in Toronto for ten years every Friday from October to April. She would dig right in and do any job given to her. Many street people have no contact with children and she brought many a smile to those who had very little to smile for. October enjoyed her candles, especially when she could run a bath and just enjoy the solitude and peace. October always wanted to travel, so when a friend invited her to go to Cuba, she was packed and ready to depart weeks ahead of time. While away she managed to slip on the coral and break a leg (this was her second day there). You think this would deter her from wanting to travel again, no way! A trip to Mexico was in the works. Left to cherish her memory are her mother Alberta Fleming of Camrose; one brother Andrew Fleming of Camrose; grandmother Margaret Ward; and numerous relatives and friends. October was predeceased by her father John; and grandmother Margaret Fleming. A funeral service was held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., from the Camrose United Church with Mary Ann Pastuck officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Camrose Food Bank or the charity of one's choice.
