Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Alan Brimacombe passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at his shack in Bashaw, Alberta. Ron (RAB) was born February 16, 1941 in Camrose, Alberta to Jean and Geoff and raised in Rosalind, Alberta. He completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Washington in 1963. After university, Ron travelled the world visiting Australia, Africa, Great Britain and Europe. Ron returned to Calgary and married Karen and together they were blessed with three beloved children, Alan, Nancy and Peter. Ron broke into the stock market business in 1969, starting at Gairdner and Associates, and was a founding partner of both Westfield Securities and Yorkton Securities. Ron retired in 1999 but remained a major player in the business until his passing. Ron moonlighted as a gentleman rancher; his love of cattle ranching started in 1977 when he, Lyle Bowie and Dennis Kanton started BKB Farms, which became Brimacombe Farms. He also loved horse racing, owning and racing horses in Alberta, Ontario, Kentucky and England with a big win at Cheltenham, England with the horse Shamayoun. He will be sadly missed by his son Alan (Gretel) and their children Adeline, Jody, Rachael, Tyler, and Heather; daughter Nancy (Amedeo) Cortese and their boys Amedeo and Gianluca; and son Peter (Katie) and their girls Chloe, Sophie, Lola, and Ellie. He also will be missed by his brothers Neil (Linda), Ted (Pat) and Dan (Debi), sisters Judy (Ed) and Margaret (Dave), and sister-in-law Meg. Ron married his best friend, Carol, in 2006 and they spent their time travelling the world and enjoying their grandchildren. Ron was dearly loved by Carol's children Cathryn (Greg) and Peter (Katie) and grandchildren Cohen and Gus Murray, and Charlie and Penelope Clarke. Ronald was predeceased by his father Geoff, brother Keith and grandson, Ryan. Ron will be fondly remembered as a business man, rancher and philanthropist but most of all as son, father, husband and Gramps. A Prayer Vigil was held 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 at Burgar Memorial Chapel, Camrose, Alberta. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church Daysland, Alberta with Rev. Leon Kler as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery Rosalind, Alberta. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, Memorial Monument Project c/o Village of Rosalind, Box 181 T0B 3Y0, or to the charity of one's choice.
