Agnes Pidkowa (Tokarska) was born on October 10, 1926 in Radom, Poland. Agnes came to Canada and met Peter Pidkowa and was married May 24, 1950 in Devon, Alberta. They settled in Camrose with a family of six in 1969. Agnes passed away on January 12, 2013 at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with cancer. Agnes, affectionately known as "Baba", will be forever loved and remembered by her children Larry (Barbara) Pidkowa, Terry (Donna) Pidkowa, Mary-Kay (Rob) Primrose, Patricia (Randy) Beck, James (Sheri) Pidkowa; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, and son Tommy. Agnes was known as a loving and caring person, always making meals for family, friends and neighbors. Her compassionate nature also led her to a rewarding career as a nurse's aid at the Bethany hospital. She took tremendous pride in her family, and had a great love for her grandchildren. Known as an exceptional cook, Agnes spent time teaching her many favorite recipes, such as perogies and borscht, made with beets grown in her beloved garden. Her knitting and crocheting handiwork was admired by all, and Baba was always eager to make things for those she loved. A Funeral Service was held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 from Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Grambo officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Open Door or to the Camrose Hospice Society.
