Brian Robert Boden of Lacombe, Alberta passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the age of 58 years. Brian Robert Boden was born June 3, 1954 to Robert and Florence Boden in Camrose and was raised and attended school in Edberg. At age 17, Brian began working in road construction and became a skilled paver operator. In the late 1980s he went back to school at NAIT while married with two children, and drove taxi at night to pay the bills. Brian loved sports. He played baseball and football, as well as hockey with the Bulldogs, Legionnaires and Maroons. He later played for the Yorkton Terriers and Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League. Brian worked in senior management for Alberta Asphalt and also spent time working with North American Paving. While in Fort McMurray, Brian drove the largest rock truck in history until suffering a spinal injury which made him unable to work. His passions were horses and horse racing, music, cards (especially cribbage), and food. Left to cherish his memory are his son Wyatt Boden of Camrose; daughter Mallory Boden of Camrose; one grandchild Christian Lomax; his mother Florence Boden of Camrose; one brother Rodney (Lorna) Boden of Red Deer; two sisters Brenda (Norman) Van Petten of Rosalind and Linda (Klaus) Holewa of Cochrane, Alberta. Brian was predeceased by his father Robert Boden; brother Larry. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment took place in the Edberg Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
