Obituary of Joyce Lohner

Joyce Lorraine Lohner (Kiper) On December 7th, 2012, Joyce Lorraine Lohner passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the age of 72 years after a long battle with Crohn's disease and cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leon and her children Michael (Tracie) of Edmonton and Wendy (Douglas) Winder of Calgary, grandchildren Sydney and Devon Winder, Goddaughter Kathleen (Merrick) Hill of Chestermere, AB, sister Doreen (Ralph) Haugland of Surrey as well as a cousin Carol (Tom) Folino and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Vivian Kiper of Vancouver, brother and sister-in-law Alex and Diane of Langley, and her niece Donna Haugland of North Vancouver. Joyce attended Gladstone Secondary School. She taught in Kitimat, Sardis and Vancouver prior to teaching at 4Wing RCAF Baden-Soellingen, Germany. It was here that she met the love of her life, Leon, and then moved to Camrose, Alberta and taught in area schools. Joyce had a life-long passion for music, teaching, baseball and basketball, and learning. She loved to travel, volunteer and spend time with her family - particularly her grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Camrose United Church on Friday, December 14th 2012 at 2pm. with Mary Ann Pastuck and Rev. Alan Richards officiating. Inurnment took place in the Camrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Camrose Home Care or Unit #2 Palliative Care, St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, AB or a charity of your choice.
