Eleanor passed away quietly at the Devon Long Term Care Facility in Devon, Alberta on Sunday December 2, 2012. She was born on the family farm approximately five miles north of La Glace, Alberta to Gudmund and Marie Vekved on June 8, 1933. She was baptized and confirmed in the Norden Church three miles east of La Glace. Eleanor was the eldest of six siblings Ingvald (Marilyn) Vekved of Grande Prairie, James (pre-deceased), Glen (Sylvia) Vekved of Flatbush, Alberta, Ada Mae Brown of Surrey, BC and Carol Green of Surrey, BC. Eleanor attended Buffalo Lake Country School and the La Glace High School to Grade Eleven. Eleanor worked at the Royal Bank in Grande Prairie for several years. She graduated from Camrose Lutheran College in 1955. Eleanor and Irvin Servold were married on November 12, 1955 in the Norden Church on a cold minus 40°C day. Blessed to this union were six children Mark (Connie) Servold of Devon, Helen (Fred Detert) Servold of Sherwood Park, Jon Servold of Calgary; Niel Servold of Devon (Kathy Servold), Ingrid (Philip Holman) Servold of Cochrane and Daniel Servold of Camrose; and seven grandchildren Thomas, Matthew, Erica, Gregg, Anne, Sean and Ava. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2012 from Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Harold Rust officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Augustana Chaplaincy Fund, CLBI, or to the charity of one's choice.
