Obituary of Terrance Olsen

Please share a memory of Terrance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Terry was born to Oswald and Lavina Olsen on October 22, 1950 in Killam, Alberta. God called him home on October 28, 2012 at the age of 62 years. Terry grew up and attended school in Sedgewick until 1967 when the family moved to Camrose. Here he attended Camrose Composite High School, and after completion he moved to Edmonton to pursue his interest in carpentry at NAIT. Later, after moving back to Camrose, he began a career in ceramic tile installation, and was known as one of the best installers in the area. Terry was quite the sports fan, and excelled at them as well. He was approached by the Red Deer Wildcats football league, and accepted to play one season with them. He played hockey at many different levels, but his passion was playing centerfield for the Camrose Merchants fastball team. The other outfielders knew that if the ball went long, "No worries, T.O. will get it!" He was always fast and accurate! One of his most prized possessions was his World Series of Fastball ring, which was presented to every member of the Merchants after winning the World Series of Fastball in 1979. Dad was patient teaching us the fundamentals of throwing a ball, swinging a bat, shooting a puck, or just being genuinely enthusiastic about being part of a team. Many hours were spent on Mirror Lake learning to skate, and in the backyard catching fly balls. He was also an avid and proud fan of all our school and sport achievements. Missing him greatly are his three children and five grandchildren: Teri and Ralph Mazzuca, and sons Matteo and Alesandro; Tanner and Leah Olsen, and children Ezrah, Malik, and Jett; and Kristen Olsen and fiancé Jacques Kuntz. Also feeling his loss are his siblings Joan and Clarke James; Shirley and Einar Brandingen; and Alan Olsen. Waiting to welcome Terry home are his parents, Oswald and Lavina. A Funeral Service was held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 from Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Eriksson officiating. Inurnment has taken place in Bethania Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The War Amps Society or the charity of one's choice.
