Allan Garson passed away on April 13, 2012 at the age of 71 years. He was born in Drumheller on August 22, 1940. He was the youngest of 8 siblings. They grew up on a farm in the Orkney District, near Drumheller, Alberta. Growing up Allan had a great interest in cattle. He started working with his dad in 1955 and then partnered with his brother, Victor, in the Purebred Hereford cattle business. At the Calgary Bull Sale, they received Reserve Grand Champion in 1970 and Grand Champion in 1977. In 1987, Allan moved to Ponoka to continue farming and raising Herefords. He later retired and moved into town and then onto Camrose. His new hobbies included: baking, walking and collecting bottles. He enjoyed visits with his children. Allan will be remembered by his children; Margaret Garson of Edmonton, and Brian (Donna) Garson of Bashaw. He also leaves behind a brother, James Garson of Drumheller and twin sister, Alice Moar of Drumheller. Allan was predeceased by his brothers; Hector, George and Victor and his sisters; Jean and Violet. A funeral service was held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel (4817 51 Ave Camrose) with Rev. Stephen Haughland officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
