Obituary of Sheila Emmott

Please share a memory of Sheila to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sheila was born in Mannville, Alberta, to Garfield & Elsie Coultman on April 13, 1932. She passed away suddenly on April 3, 2012. Sheila attended Orbindale Country School until grade 9 and continued her education in Irma, Alberta. Sheila started playing the piano in her family orchestra when she was just 15 and continued playing almost to the day she died. Her music was always a joy for her and for her many fans throughout the community who were entertained by her enthusiasm for dance music. She married Clifford Emmott on April 15, 1950 in Edmonton, Alberta. She and Clifford worked hard on the Emmott homestead near Mannville, raising their five children growing a variety of grain crops, and raising beef and dairy cattle, pigs, chickens, and turkeys. They left the family farm in 1970 and moved to Camrose where Sheila became involved in a new career by applying her skills as a caregiver and therapist. Known for her warm and friendly hospitality, Sheila's table always had room for one more. She loved to prepare good food for her family, especially for her trademark breads, pies - especially rasberry - and her famous cinnamon buns. Sheila is survived by her second husband Gerry; her children Garry, Lyle (Carmen), Leanne (Ron), and Deana (Ed); twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Donna; her brother Lorne (Anne Marie); numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Clifford; her son and daughter-in-law Ian and Karen; and by three infant children. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 3:00pm., from Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Jim Appleby officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Camrose Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
