Obituary of George Sian

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George William Sian of Camrose, formerly of Yellowknife, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the age of 89 years. Today, we remember and celebrate the life of George Sian.

In his 89 years, George was able to pack in a whole lot of living. In 1946, at the age of 17, George moved to Yellowknife to begin his 40-year mining career at Cominco Con Mine. At the beginning of the northern chapter of his life, he met and married Trudy and together they raised four children. Don (Margaret), Lynda (Ed), Brenda (Don) and Pat (Tom). During the southern chapter of his life, George met and married a wonderful lady, Gwenne Letourneau. He cherished the love and support of his new stepfamily Forrest Letourneau, Taylor (Karen) Letourneau, and Charmaine (Mike) Dorchak. Collectively George has twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. During George's final chapter of his life, he shared a special companionship with Anne Lindgren until the challenges of dementia necessitated a move to Memory Lane a year ago.

George was predeceased by his first wife Trudy Sian (nee Telford), second wife Gwenne Sian (nee Pye) and sister Mary Chomlak.
George loved fishing, camping, curling, traveling, gardening, crib, and most of all sharing stories around a late night campfire. He will be fondly remembered and forever in our hearts!

A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, from Camrose United Church with Rev. Liz Carter-Morgan officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Camrose Cemetery.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Alzheimer Society.
