Obituary of Joseph Tyrlik

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joe was born on August 18, 1922 at home in Heisler. He spent his younger years at the mine with his family, Mom (Mary), Dad (John), & siblings Alice, Kate, Mike, & Walter. He and Walter would later take over the mine from their dad. Joe married Lorraine on November 28, 1946 and they resided at the mine for a number of years. They moved to New Norway for a brief time while Joe worked building the school and in 1957 they would make their permanent residence in Donalda. Joe & Lorraine raised three children Sharon, Ed, and Bob. During their time in Donalda he worked for Clement Hardware, drove school bus, was caretaker of the school, a volunteer Fire Chief, and worked for the town in Public Works. In his younger years Joe enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. He loved to spend time with his family. Camping, fishing, playing horseshoes, and a good game of bean bags were just a few of the family traditions. Joe's grandchildren were a big part of his life. Practically every summer he and Lorraine would pack up the motor home and off they'd go with the grandkids to Fairmont Hot Springs. Family was always NUMBER ONE with Joe. Joe's wife Lorraine passed away in January 1999 and shortly thereafter he moved to Camrose where he resided until his passing. Left to cherish his memory are his children Sharon (Dennis), Ed (Carol), and Bob (Bev). He is also survived by his four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:00pm., from The Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Cremation has taken place with inurnment to follow in the St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Heisler at a later date. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Alzheimer's Society, or to a charity of your choice.
