Obituary of Lorraine McLean

Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On December 16, 2011 Lorraine McLean surrounded by loving family, lost her hard fought battle with cancer. The oldest daughter and second child of Thora and Einar Modalen, Lorraine was born in Camrose on September 30, 1930 and was raised in Edberg and Camrose. Lorraine worked at Lyseng Studios (painting color to black and white pictures) prior to her marriage to Ed Sjolie, and then they worked at Shirley's Bakery. Together they were proud parents of three children. Once the children were older, Lorraine worked at Rosehaven for more than thirty years where she made many lifelong friends and showed her true compassion for all people, especially those who were without support and or family. After many years of being on her own, caring for and "being there" for her family, in June of 1985 Lorraine married Richard McLean. For almost twenty years they enjoyed dancing, travelling and camping, construction of various family additions and projects and above all, enjoying and supporting their families in whatever way they could. Lorraine was not one to complain about her life and always saw her glass as half full. She will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by her family- children, Trudy (Brent) Bratland, Richard Sjolie (Heather Tansowny) and Tami (Terry) Albach; twin sisters Darlene (Bill) Wright and Marlene (Tom) Barr; brother Gilbert (Leona) Modalen. She is also survuved by her grandchildren Tanner and Dustin Bratland, Felicia (David) McDougall, Billy Joe (Amber) Tansowny, Alex, Brittany and Alannah Albach; great grandchildren Kelty, Seth, and Karter Bratland, Hunter McDougall, Carter, Parker, Riley, Brennan and Easton Tansowny; nieces Kerri Modalen, Sandy Wright, Dana Barr; nephews Bruce Wright and Dan Barr. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dean Shingoose officiating. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
