Obituary of Harry Campbell

Please share a memory of Harry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harry Campbell was born on April 6,1939 in Dauphin Manitoba. He spent his youngest years living on a farm in Mackinak, MB until he left home. He was married very young at 18 years old and had a family of 5 boys and a daughter. He divorced and ended up coming to BC where he met his wife Sharon and they moved to Alberta shortly after. The first year in AB he worked for Youngs Crane Service and was with them for a couple of years, at which time he found himself a Crane and formed his own crane business which he had until we moved to Daysland. Harry didn't have much of an education, only grade 5. You would never know that as he educated himself on all things. He played with cars fixing them etc. from a young age and loved antique vehicles which he had several over the years. The first one I remember was built from the ground up from pieces and parts he found abandoned on old farms, he built himself a model A. He was very proud of the fact that he was the last person he knew of, that homesteaded a 1/4 section of land in the Breton area. He loved fishing & hunting, and was actually quite a private person, but the friends he had he was very loyal to. He also enjoyed the old type of country music and loved to sing and play guitar when he was socializing with his friends. Harry would go out of his way to help someone in need and enjoyed doing this. He would drive for miles looking for vehicles if someone was in need of a car or truck and always seemed to find whatever the person needed. He enjoyed doing this and was completely honest with everyone if there was something wrong with any vehicle he sold to anyone. Harry passed away quickly at home on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from a heart attack. God gave him his wish to not linger on in life not being able to take care of himself. He was predeceased by two sons and has his remaining children , grandchildren and loving wife to feel the loss of him. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren from being in a blended family and 18 years ago having the privilege of raising one of our grandchildren Carli who meant the world to him. He was old fashioned grumpy grandpa at times but loved all his kids and grandchildren. He will be missed by anyone who knew him. Funeral Services were held on Sunday, December 4,2011 at 2:00pm., from The Burgar Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Laurence Johnston officiating. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
