After a faith-filled journey of 89 years, Lauretta passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, AB on February 11, 2010 with family at her side. She was born in Ste. Justine, Quebec and grew up in a family of nine, three brothers and five sisters. She married her first husband in 1938 and married her second husband in 1955. In these unions, she was blessed with 13 children. With having a large family, she was always interested in and supportive of her growing family including her 34 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lauretta's family meant everything to her. She loved to cook and look after her family and others too! She loved to travel and see many places. Lauretta is survived by her ten children Ron (Grace) of Sherwood Park, AB, Maurice (Marlene) of Seaman, Sk, Yvonne Braun of Camrose, AB, Noella (Everett) Weitzel of Lloydminster, Sk, Pauline (John) Griffith of Tecumseh, Ont, Cecille Gauthier of Camrose, AB, Lucille (Will) Opdenkamp of Edmonton, AB, Jean Kroeker (Murray) of Lloydminster, Sk, Rita (Louie) Canniford of Humpty Doo, Australia and Lauraine (Wade) Hager of Leduc, AB. She is also survived by her two sisters. Lauretta was predeceased by her parents Noel & Virginia Lafranchise, her first husband Hector, her second husband Edward, one son Raymond, two daughters Debra and Sandie, two grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. Here we are gathered in your memory, The family you left behind to proudly carry your legacy. Today we mourn you, but only your human existence, For more essential than blood and bones Is the spirit you imparted to your loved ones. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 7508-29 Avenue, Edmonton with Rev. Jim Carrigan as celebrant. Interment followed in the St. Anthony's Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
