Obituary of Marion Staszko

Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marion was born August 4, 1918 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her parents were August and Anna (Dill) Jaschke. Marion was six years of age when she came to Canada, and she and her family settled on a farm near Strome. Then, later, they moved into town. Marion had many memories of her childhood on the farm and in Strome. She attended Pryor School. As a young woman she moved to Camrose, where she worked at St. Mary's Hospital. It was there that she met Peter, her soul mate, who also worked at the hospital. After courtship, they were married on August 29, 1939. They moved to Edmonton for a short while. Then, they moved back to the farm near Strome, and later into town. It was in Strome that together they raised their three children, Roger, Merlin and Elaine. After raising their family in Strome, Dad retired from work at the flour mill. Later, in September of 1989, they decided to move to Camrose, and took up residence in Heritage Manor. But after only four short years, Dad passed away very suddenly. This left a deep void in all of our lives. Mom continued to reside at Heritage Manor later moving to Stoney Creek Lodge and a short while later, to Bethany Meadows, Aspen Cottage, where she resided until her passing on November 19, 2011. Mom was a great homemaker. She loved her home life, flowers, music and reading. Later, she was able to do some travelling. Mom had a very deep faith. She was a member of the CWL for sixty-six years. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, eldest son Roger, and sister Pearl. Marion is survived by her son Merlin (Lila) and her daughter Elaine (Dennis). She leaves seven grandchildren, Marlowe, Averyl, Sheldon, Marni, Chris, Tasha and Erica. She also leaves thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Nancy (Grabowski) and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom deeply loved all of her family and each member held a very special place in her heart. To her great-grandchildren she was known simply as GG. ~When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure ~ A prayer service was held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel.
