Obituary of Ralph Nelson

Please share a memory of Ralph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ralph Gordon Nelson was born on December 10, 1952 to Harold and Betty Nelson. He grew up on the family farm at New Norway. After finishing school, he worked awhile before moving to the USA. He moved to wherever his jobs took him, and finally settled in Eureka, California where he became a licensed welder installing commercial plumbing and heating systems. Ralph spent a lot of time hunting, fishing and camping with friends in California. Ralph loved motorcycles and was especially proud of his first bike, a Honda 55. He gave a young 14 year old girl, Kathy Kvill, her first ride and allowed her to drive his bike. Something he would never let anyone else do. After his first heart attack in 2005, Ralph bought a Harley Sportster. In 2006, he took a two week ride to Canada. The ride lasted 3 months when he returned to New Norway and met Kathy again. They were married on May 15, 2010. Ralph loved the Lord as his personal Savior and wasn't afraid to share his faith with those he thought should hear it. He struggled with his health and knew his time was short. He spoke often of being ready to see his Lord. He passed away peacefully on November 24, 2011 with his wife Kathy at his side. Ralph is survived by his loving wife Kathy, daughter Angelina Nelson, grandchildren Chandra and Reese of Athabasca, Alberta, son Dustin (Ronda) and grandson Blake of Clifton, Colorado. Brother Paul (Rochelle) Nelson of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, sisters Grace (John) Johnson of Lindenhurst, Illinois and Loretta Nelson of Colorado Springs, Colorado. A father and mother-in law, brothers and sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews. Ralph was "Uncle Buck" to a special little girl, Kris Andra Jackson of Oceanside, California. He was predeceased by his parents. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him both here in Canada and in the USA. Funeral Services were held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., from the Bethesda Lutheran Church, New Norway with Rev. Jeff Decelle officiating. Inurnment followed in the Highland Park Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ralph to the Highland Park Cemetery or the Charity of One's Choice. **Absolutely no flowers will be accepted at the family home or at the church due to a severe allergy**
