Robert Lionel Burrows passed away after a brief illness on November 23, 2011, one week short of his 87th birthday. Bob, son of Charles and Nellie Burrows, was born and raised in Camrose. He was a navigator in the RCAF during World War II. He and Betty (Howarth) were married in Camrose and in uniform on August 3, 1944. Bob, a journeyman carpenter, worked in his father's construction firm in Camrose. He and his brother, Gordon, took over management of the firm, Burrows Construction, in the late 1950s. Over the following four decades, he, with his brother, built much of Camrose. He was an active and faithful member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church. He was a member of the Camrose Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, and proudly led the Colour Party at Remembrance Day ceremonies for many years. Bob built his home in Camrose in the early 1950's and lived there for more than 60 years. He also built a family "cottage" at Pigeon Lake where he loved to spend summer weekends. He was predeceased by Betty, after 61 years of marriage; his mother and father; his step-mother Svea; his sister Nellie; and his brothers Walter, Gordon, Billy, Allan and Teddy. He is survived by his daughter Beverley (Harry) Davis, his son Brian (Barbara) Burrows, all of Edmonton; his brother Bert Burrows of West Vancouver; his step-sister Edith Williams of Camrose; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: Rob and Amy, Marc and Matthew Davis of Paris, France; Corey and Jen, Claire and Sophie Davis of Edmonton; Jamie and Steph, Ethan and Charlie Davis of Edmonton; Karen and Kevin, Abbey and Hailey Campbell of Whitehorse; Janet and Jay, and Tayla Reiter of Edmonton; Andrew and Heather, and Desrée Burrows of Edmonton; Lisa and Cam Blair of Beaumont. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 4713 - 50 Street, Camrose, Rev. Jacques Vaillancourt, presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
