Jean Oline Green of Camrose passed away suddenly November 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 83. Jean is survived by her children, Brian (Irene) Green of Red Deer, Barbara (Harald) Lesser of Camrose, Ken (Ann) Green of Calgary, David (Lana) Green of Meeting Creek and Beverly (Cliff) Drever of Camrose. Sharing warm memories of their Grandma are 14 grandchildren, Shannon Peacock, Brandon, Meghan and Kieran Green, Kara Shopland, Ryan, Devan, and Krysta Fredrickson, Garret and Layton Green, Lyndell, Ross, David and Lee Drever, their spouses and her 4 great grandchildren. Jean is also survived by 1 brother, Norman (Doris) Lyseng of Westbank B.C., and 3 sisters, Avis Gerards of Orange Calif., Lorna Miklusek of Prince George, B.C., and Noreen Anger, of New Sarepta, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Donald, and her brother Harland Lyseng. Jean was born July 29, 1928 to Kenneth and Hazel Lyseng of Armena, Alberta. She started her schooling at Lyseng School staying with Grandparents Nils and Oline for grade 1. She continued at Lyseng School until grade 7 when she and her younger brothers and sisters attended the newly opened Armena School. Jean boarded at CLC in Camrose to complete Grade 12 and then finished her education at the Misericordia School of Nursing in Edmonton. Following her graduation, Jean traveled in Europe, returning home to marry Donald Green of Meeting Creek in 1953. Jean was a caregiver, whether helping with her younger brothers and sisters, as a partner with Don during their time in Coppermine NWT, including nursing the people of that community through a measles epidemic, or in later years as a nurse at Bethany Auxiliary Hospital and as a home care nurse. She had a lifelong relationship with God, and was an active ELW member, and member of the ladies choir at Messiah Lutheran Church. We will remember her love of spending time with the most recent additions to the family her 4 great grandchildren Evan, Kaydince, Dawson and Jackson; her singing and the time she spent in the garden. Most of all, we are thankful for her faith in God and that his creation was a wonderful place to be. The family wish to pass on a special thank you to the members of Jean's bible study who were with her at the time of her passing. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Scandia Lutheran Church in Armena with Rev. Jim Appleby officiating. Inurnment took place in the Little Rock Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Battle River Community Foundation Don & Jean Green Fund or the charity of one's choice.
