Please share a memory of Lillian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lillian was born on July 9, 1921 in a prairie home near Verlo, Saskatchewan to the parents of George and May Jensen. She had an older brother, Gordon. She resided on the family farm and attended school to grade ten. Her aunt Annie, who was more like a sister, lived with Lillian and her family from age 6 until Lillian left home. She worked in Gull Lake for several years then moved to Medicine Hat where she worked at the local airport until it closed. She moved to Calgary where she later met John Nordin whom she married September 15, 1945. To this union, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Barbara Joyce. They lived in Calgary until 1964 when her family moved to Edmonton where she became employed with GWG and worked as a Quality Control Inspector until her retirement in 1985. Lillian enjoyed the company of her three granddaughters, Candace (Clayton) Swanson of Provost, AB; Chantel (Dean) Starchuk of Edmonton, AB; and Carrie (Bobby) Almeida of Edmonton, AB. The addition of her six great-grandchildren added to her enjoyment. Some of Lillian's favorite past times included dancing, baking, gardening, reading, bingo, wordfind books, and spending time with family whenever possible. Lillian was predeceased by her father, mother, brother, husband, and infant son. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Barbara (Garry) Selin, three granddaughters Candace (Clayton) Swanson, Chantel (Dean) Starchuk, Carrie (Bobby) Almeida, six great-grandchildren, Hailey, Sarah, Jayden, Carter, Colton and Vienna, sisters-in-law Adelia Nordin of Camrose, Lillan Nordin of Calgary, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian lived a full life, and will be greatly missed as a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and as a friend by all who knew her. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Wilhelmina Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Kjos officiating. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery.
