Anne Kurrik of Camrose passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the age of 88 years. Anne was born in Andrew, Alberta on November 10, 1922 to John and Helen Palahniuk. She came from a family of nine girls and two boys: Mary, Kate, Jennie, Bessie, Helen, Maxine, Sam, Evelyn, Bill and Claudia. She met Bill Kurrik in 1939 and they married on July 27, 1941. They resided in several places while raising their two daughters, June and Val. They retired in Camrose in 1984 and settled there for many years in retirement. Anne lived in their home until 2008 when she moved to Holden Lodge. Anne had many interests including gardening, knitting, computer games and various types of puzzles. Anne always welcomed friends and family into her (and Bill's) home, forever giving, baking and inventing food dishes in the center of the home, her kitchen. She had a great sense of humour and a hearty laugh that was always contagious. Anne was predeceased by Bill, her parents, and sisters Mary, Kate and Jennie. Anne is survived by her daughters June and Val (John), her grandchildren Shaun (Tami), Julie (Scott), Will (Filomena), and Andrea (Bill). Also left to celebrate her life are her little sweethearts, great-grandchildren Josh, Carson, Marnie, Eric, Stefan, Casey, Francesca, and Niko. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Daysland United Church with Rev. Kathleen Taylor officiating. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Daysland United Church, or the charity of one's choice.
