The Rev. Dr. Thomas Gilchrist of Edmonton passed away on Friday August 19, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Left to mourn are his loving wife of 60 years Kathleen and five children; Stephen (Deborah) of Toronto, Heather (Ed) Martinson of New Norway , Alberta, Peter (Janna) of Edmonton, Dianne (Kris) Gilchrist- McCollum of Edmonton, Andrew of Red Deer and close family members Gay (Stu) Mehta of Edmonton, eight grandchildren; Kenton Gilchrist (Sarah Douziech) , Lara Gilchrist, Davin (Erin) Martinson, Alana Martinson (Jonas Fiechter), Andrea Martinson, Dylan Gilchrist (Georgiana Jefferys) , Emily Gilchrist and Miranda McCollum, also four brothers; David (Margaret) Gilchrist of Didsbury, Ken Gilchrist of Sherwood Park, Ian (Joyce) Gilchrist of Yellowknife, N.W.T. and Rae Gilchrist of Edmonton as well as many other relatives, extended family and friends. Tom was predeceased by his parents Dr.William Sidney and Frances Harriet Gilchrist and sister Betty Gilchrist in 1970. A Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's United Church, at 11526-76 Ave, Edmonton, Alberta. He will be interred at a later date in the New Norway cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Angola Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o E.
