Mr. Alver L. Person of Camrose passed away peacefully in Bethany Meadows Long Term Care, on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the age of 86. Alver was born to John and Amanda Person on September 25, 1924 in the East Hay Lakes district. Alver was raised on the family farm and attended Brandland School. As a young man Alver joined the Canadian Army and served overseas during World War II. Upon returning home he attended Camrose Lutheran College, and it was there that he met his bride, Arlene Skaret. Alver's long time profession as a Funeral Director created a life of service and passion for his community. Alver was very fond of his Swedish heritage and true to those customs he was seldom seen drinking his coffee without a sugar lump.
Alver will be fondly be remembered by his loving wife Arlene, daughter Kathy (Steve) Haugen and their children Hans, Luke, Anna, and son John (Carmen) all of Camrose.
Alver was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 2:00pm from Messiah Lutheran Church, 4810-50 Street, Camrose, with Rev. Norm Lentz officiating. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to Augustana Chaplaincy Fund, Hastings Lake Lutheran Bible Camp, or a charity of choice.
