Rita Camilla Sunderman passed away peacefully in Daysland, Alberta on December 29, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Rita was born in Daysland on September 2, 1921 to Baltus and Laura Lotzer. She grew up mainly in the Heisler area, where she met and later married Lawrence Sunderman on June 3, 1941. Rita leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Joan Sunderman of Edmonton, Doris (Russell) Svahun of Rocky Mountain House, and Lori Martz of Heisler; two sons Brian (Janet) Sunderman of Heisler, Gary Sunderman of Heisler; fifteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Rita is also survived by one brother Percy (Kay) Lotzer of Langley, B.C.; two sisters Mary Dunbar of Loon Lake, S.K and Donna Genest of Edmonton; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rita was predeceased by her parents, husband Lawrence, son Wayne, daughter Shirley, son-in-law Brian Martz, grandson Terrence, sisters Margaret, Belva, Ada, brother-in-law's Bill, Jack, Sandy, Allen, brother Bill and sister-in-law Cecile. A prayer vigil was held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. from St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church Heisler. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church, Heisler with Rev. Leon Kler as Celebrant. Interment followed in the St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Daysland Hospital Palliative Care, The Daysland Medical Centre, or the charity of one's choice.
