Obituary of Doris Sheplawy

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris was born in Camrose, the sixth child of John and Katie Kupka on July 14, 1946. She completed her public school at Charlie Killam. Following that she took a hairdressing course. A number of years were spent working at Cecile's Beauty Salon. In 1966 she married Ron Sheplawy. They had four children. Ron and Doris lived with Grandpa Kupka in Camrose, they then took him with them to Sherwood Park. She continued hairdressing at her house for a few years. Most summers were spent at the lake fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Doris was diagnosed with MS and when she could no longer be cared for at home, at the age of 46, she entered the Grandview Care Centre where she resided until her passing on July 19, 2011. She had a positive outlook in life and will be remembered for her great smile. For as long as she was able - if there was an out trip scheduled - she was on it. Doris had a great love for animals (dogs, cats and birds) and enjoyed the love and support of her many true friends. Doris is survived by son John, daughter Lori, and their father Ron, as well as brothers William and Frank (Gladys), sisters Sophia (Don) Anderson and Eleanor (Mel) Lynds. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Annie, and infant twins Katherine and Diane. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Pederson as celebrant. Interment followed in the Camrose Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the MS Society in memory of Doris.
