Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Robert Kennedy of Camrose, formerly of Rosalind, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Bob was born on August 23, 1932 in Camrose, Alberta. He was the only child of Robert and Gladys Kennedy. Bob attended his ealy years of school at Coal Valley and finished his schooling in Rosalind. Bob married the love of his life, Edna Olstad in 1953. Together they settled into a life they loved, farming. Bob enjoyed seeding in the spring, haying in the summer, and harvesting in the fall. Bob wore many hats and took on many other jobs to supplement farming. Bob loved telling stories and would often sit at the coffee table recanting his tales. Even though he would sometimes tell the same story we would always enjoy listening. Bob wrote a book about his memoirs which will be treasured forever. In later years, Bob and Edna moved into Camrose. Bob enjoyed reading, fishing, playing cards, playing Bingo and watching birds. He also enjoyed his job as a guard at the Camrose Police Station. Bob passed away January 17, 2009 at the age of 76 years due to lung cancer. Bob was at home and was at peace. He leaves behind his wife Edna; his sons Doug (Lorraine) and Brant (Chris); his daughters LeeAnn (Ken) and Lori (Marvin); grandchildren: Tim, Tami, Megan, Jon, Miranda, Amy, Ryan, Brad and Robyn; great-grandchildren Tristen, Dustin, Trinity and Brooklynn; and Dad's other very special daughter Rowena, joining us from the Phillipines. He was predeceased by his mother Gladys and his father Robert. Bob will be remembered as a gentle man; generous and loving, a man who loved hard work, loved animals, and loved his family and friends. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009 in the Rosalind Hall with Rev. Dean Rostad officiating. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Stollery Children's Hospital.
