Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
June Lomnes was born on July 25, 1930 in Camrose, Alberta to Joseph and Tilly. In 1950, she married the love of her life Lester Lomnes. Together they had six children, three of which died in infancy. They raised their children Lynn, Donavon, and Cheryl on the Lomnes homestead in Armena, Alberta. June resided there until 1995, when she moved into Camrose after Lester's passing. She continued to be involved with her church family at Scandia and her many friends in the community. June was well known for her coffee always being on, fresh homemade pies and wonderful cooking. She was an award winning gardener on the farm and in Camrose at Center Court. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. They all treasure their special memories of Grandma. June was predeceased by her husband Lester, and their infant children: Linda, Dwayne, and Baby Boy. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lynn (Randy), Donavon (Peggy), Cheryl (Wayne); her grandchildren: Michael (Lisa), Stacie and special friend Norm, Cory, Clayton (Sandra), Jillian, and Chandra and her special friend Tanner; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Tristan, and Kendra. She is also survived by her "adopted grandchildren": Aaron, Ashley, Mark, Christie, Landon, and Mackenzie; brother Don (Jean); sister Marilyn (Knut); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 28, 2008 from the Scandia Lutheran Church in Armena with Rev. Jim Appleby officiating. Interment followed in the Scandia Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Scandia Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
