Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marion Joyce Yurkoski of Camrose passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Marion was born in 1939 in the Killam Hospital. She was raised to be strong, hard-working, and brave with her twelve brothers and sisters on the homestead. After finishing Grade 9, Marion worked briefly as a waitress until 1958 when she met and married the love of her life and soul mate Francis. From this union they had two children Rikkie (Karen), and Lynnett (Kelly). She was a perfect sister, wife, mother, auntie, grandma, and great-grandma; an inspiring role-model for us all. She was always there with a helping hand, working tirelessly at whatever needed to be done, in times of struggle, or celebration. Many of us will remember her always humming a beautiful tune. Marion was also a much-loved part of the St. Mary's Hospital staff until she retired in 1994. Marion always carried herself with dignity and grace, even while telling a joke. She lovingly touched the lives of us all and made the world a better place just by being in it. Her flower gardens were amazing, as were her cooking and baking skills. A true artist with a talent for drawing and singing. She always strived to accommodate and make everyone comfortable in life and in death. She will always be a precious memory to anyone lucky enough to have had her in their life. Left to cherish her memory are her son Rik (Karen) of Beaumont; daughter Lynnett (Kelly) of Condor, Alberta; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers Randy (Donna), and Michael; sisters Lue (Gordon) Lindseth, Carol (Syl) Kirchner, Sharon (Ron) Walz, and Ginger (Neil) Martens, Robbie (Len) Paltridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by her husband Francis; parents; brothers Rod, Allan, Larry, and Errol; and sister Wanda. A Funeral Service was held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014 from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Palliative Care, or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation: Cancer Research.
