Mr. Gordie Banack of Camrose, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 at the age of 45 years. Gord was the youngest child of Mickey and Irene Banack. He grew up in Bawlf and attended the Burgess School in Camrose. After school he went to work at Centra Cam where he continued to work at various projects including Staples, the Emergency Clothing and Furniture Depot, and the Church of God. Gord lived with friends in a group home until four years ago when he moved to the home of Dr. Elizabeth Ruge. Her loving care helped make his life very enjoyable. He lived life with a passion. He loved music, his camera, bowling and Yahtzee games with Elizabeth and friends. He enjoyed family gatherings like weddings, graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, family reunions, and holidays. He also looked forward to a week at Hastings Lake Bible Camp every summer. He carried his Bible to the studies, loved the swimming, campfire and the staff. He loved his church and his church friends. He looked forward to enjoying his favourite rides on a planned family trip to Disneyland in February 2009. Gord had many friends, never forgot anyone, had nicknames for most people. Two of his favourite sayings were "He's a friend of mine" and most of us heard him say "You're Fired". Gord liked to spend time at the farm with his Uncle Joe and Aunt Margarethe Banack. The whole Banack family enjoyed when Gord was there, always making people laugh and taking pictures. Gord loved the "Survivor" parties out at the farm and would enjoy dressing up like a "Survivor". There was never a dull or quiet moment when Gord was around. Gord is survived by his four sisters Margie (Leonard) Stone of Edson, Diane (Fred Daley) of Calgary, Mary Ann (Mike) Tindill of Edson and Debbie of Camrose; one sister-in-law Lorna of Fort Nelson; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; his loving care giver Dr. Elizabeth Ruge and many friends.
