Helen, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt passed away on Saturday, September 6th 2008 - she was 67. Helen was born at Riverside, Manitoba on August 21, 1941. She spent her first years on the family farm at Dunrea, Manitoba and later Alameda. As a young woman, Helen migrated to Alberta and eventually British Columbia where she married and her children were born. Always a prairie girl, Helen returned to Alberta and Saskatchewan. An entrepreneur and chef, she practiced her cullinary arts at some of the finest restaurants in Edmonton and Regina. Her own restaurants: Pawtuckets, Tuffs, and the Heritage Bread Basket were some of her proudest achievements. Her cullinary career allowed her to travell extensively throughout USA and Western and Northern Canada. Of all the places Helen visited and worked, her favorite was the far north where she spent several summers and winters over a number of years. Helen is survived by her mother Leona, her siblings: Pat, Fred and Guy, her children: Andy, Patty and Nicky, her grandchildren and great grandchild, and her many loving aunts, uncles, neices and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Andrew, daughter Samantha and husband John. Helen was a modern woman, an artist, a mentor, a collector,a friend. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family. She will be missed. Mass of the resurrection was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 11th, 2008 from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Rev. David Meadows as celebrant.
