Obituary of David Wendell Anderson

David "Dave" Wendell Anderson

(November 5, 1940 - April 17, 2023)

Dave passed away suddenly on Monday, April 17th, 2023. Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his wife Lorraine (of 59 years); children Marlie and Kent (Gwyn); and brother Philip (Evelyn). He was predeceased by his siter Ruth; and brothers Arnell, Donald, and Paul. 

Dave grew up at Meeting Creek, AB and attended Millar College. He pastored two churches in northern Saskatchewan before moving to southern Saskatchewan where Dave and Lorraine farmed for many years. In 1977, they moved to Gwynne, AB and Dave trucked machinery from the USA. In 1981, he acquired 12 school buses and routes for Strathcona Christian Academy. In 1992, Anderson Tours was born and we purchased our first MCI motor coach. Soon two more coaches were added to meet the demand. Dave especially enjoyed touring the seniors from Switzerland as he spent many, many weeks with them over the past years. We toured from B.C. to Branson to Arizona and a multitude of places in between. In 1999, we were approached by a buyer and felt the timing was right to sell. The school buses were also sold and Dave retired only to begin his many hobbies: woodworking, restoring old John Deer tractors, motorcycling, hunting and being a good friend to so many people. 

Dave had a very strong Christian faith which was evident in his life. He leaves a legacy of sharing his faith in many practical ways. He was a hard worker and a kind and gentle man. 

A graveside committal took place at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Highland Park Cemetery (Highway 611, South of New Norway - then go North on Range Road 214).

A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Ellerslie Road Baptist Church.
