Obituary of Betty Sauter

Elizabeth Catherine Sauter

(February 25, 1943 - December 11, 2022)

Elizabeth "Betty" Catherine Sauter of Camrose, Alberta, formerly of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the age of 79 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Vicki Kochanski of Meeting Creek, Sherry Cook of Spruce Grove, Rick (Tilly) Sauter of Lethbridge, and Cathy Klepic of Calgary; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Betty was predeceased by her parents Richard and Grace; daughter Glenna Sauter; and two sons-in-law Dan Klepic, and Bob Kochanski.

My name is Elizabeth Catherine Sauter, but I’m known to my family and friends as “Betty,” or Grandma “Betsy Boo” to my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and was the daughter of Grace and Richard Ash.  Betty’s mom and dad taught her many things, but the greatest gift they gave her was the gift of compassion and caring for others.  Once Betty completed grade twelve, she went on to receive her Nursing Aide Certification.  Betty enjoyed being a Nursing Aide and caring for others.

Betty is survived by nine grandchildren: Karry and Jessie Sauter, Kathy (Rob) Wimmer, Chris and Kevin Cook, Amanda Mitchell, Devon Sauter, and Rebecca and Andrew (Charmaine) Klepic;  and nine great-grandchildren: Jayda, Ashton, Dannika, Tyson, Brock, Adam, Rachael, Simon, and Kaeleigh.

Betty raised her children in Lethbridge, Alberta.  When her kids grew up, she moved to Coaldale and bought a house with a nice big yard for all of her flowers and garden decorations.  She loved gardening and tending to her flowers every day, and because of her dad who was English, she also loved The Royal Family.

Betty was an avid coffee drinker.  She would ride her scooter down to Tim Horton’s in Coaldale daily (sometimes two or three times) to meet her friends.  Rain, snow, or shine, it did not matter the conditions.  She was so happy to be going out to meet people and would chat up a storm with her French vanilla coffee in hand.

Betty’s family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at the Bethany Care Center – West Court Lane, and Dr. Slabbert for the care and attention they provided Betty over the years while she was in their care.

No service will be held at this time.  The family will be having a Celebration of Life in the New Year.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Elizabeth's memory may be made to The Bethany Group or to a charity of one's choice.
