Gwenneth "Gwen" Mae Scott
(February 26, 1927 - October 6, 2022)
Gwenneth "Gwen" Mae Scott of Camrose, AB, formerly of Edberg, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the age of 95 years.
Gwen was born to Gene and Phoebe Williams in Ponoka, Alberta on February 26, 1927. She passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Raised in the Ponoka area, it was there she met her husband Don with whom she shared forty-nine happy years. They were blessed with four children, Yvonne, Marilyn, Brenda and Don, and lived most of their married life in Edberg. Gwen worked at the Edberg Hardware and Lumber for several years and was the village Municipal Administrator for close to 20 years. She also enjoyed several years as a School Trustee representing the Village of Edberg.
Gwen was community minded, involved in most community organizations. She helped out whenever needed and was an active member of the Edberg Lutheran Church.
In retirement, Gwen and Don were able to travel and enjoy several winters in Arizona. Many special memories were made during these trips. Gwen enjoyed baking, reading, dancing and spending time with her family and many friends.
Gwen was predeceased by her husband Don; daughter Yvonne; and son Don Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Marilyn, her husband Jim, and their children Lori, Gary (Merilee); daughter Brenda, her husband Bob, and their sons Ryan (Michelle), Darcy (Lonnie); and daughter-in-law Lois, and Don’s daughter Rachele. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jayden, Matthew, Andrew, Jaxon, and Tyler, Eva, Devon, and Logan, and Mikaela, and Madison. Gwen is also survived by sister Marg Shaw; brothers Tommy and Danny; sisters-in-law June Williams, and Kay Scott; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Gwen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a special friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Marilyn (Jim) Oleson of Camrose, and Brenda (Bob) Ledene of Strathmore; daughter-in-law Lois Scott of Keremeos, BC; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and siblings Marg Shaw of Invermere, BC, Tommy Williams of Camrose, and Danny (Brenda) Williams of Camrose.
Gwenneth was predeceased by her husband Don; daughter Yvonne Scott; son Don; brothers Phil, Dave, and Ken Williams; and sister Dorothy Williams.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2022, from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, 4817 - 51 Avenue Camrose, with Pastor Kevin Scott officiating.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Gwen's memory may be made to the Hospice Society of Camrose and District, to St. Mary's Hospital - Palliative Care Unit, or to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation.
