Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Caroline Wyllis Gilfillan

(May 11, 1933 - August 17, 2022)

With great sadness and boundless love, we announce the passing of Caroline Gilfillan on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the age of 89 years.

Carol was predeceased by Jim, her husband of 62 years; parents Florence and Weller Wensley; and brother B. James Wensley. She is survived by a family that could not have loved her more - children Scott Gilfillan, Darcie (Colin) Fred, and Lisa (Lee) Foreman; grandchildren Amanda, Jackson, Taylor, James, Connor and Haley; adored great-grandson Noah; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

To be remembered for the woman she was:

A loving and treasured mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, mentor and friend

An accomplished and sensitive teacher, social worker, counsellor, children’s advocate, business woman and executive director

An enthusiastic and talented seamstress, artist, gourmet cook, bridge player and volunteer.

A vibrant, gentle-humoured, brilliant woman of fierce intellect and immeasurable courage who lived her life fully, with dignity and grace.

She will be deeply missed.

A private service will be held at a later date.

With heartfelt gratitude, the family thanks the staff of Pine Cottage at Bethany Meadows Care Centre in Camrose, for the loving and compassionate care Mom received these last few years.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Caroline Gilfillan Community Fund at the Edmonton Community Foundation. Proceeds from this fund are used to support underprivileged youth in education and sport, a cause Mom believed in deeply.
