Derrick Ronald Wensley

(June 28, 1978 - January 30, 2022)

Derrick Ronald Wensley of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 43 years.

Derrick Ronald Wensley was born June 28, 1978 in Camrose Alberta to Ron and Deb Wensley. Derrick was the oldest of two sons and welcomed his brother Jaron 22 months later.

Derrick’s growing years included school in Camrose, swimming lessons and going to his grandparent’s farm by Bittern Lake. Derrick married in 2000 and had children Dederick, Trisha, Joshua and Jeremy.

Derrick got his Journeyman Red Seal Electrical certificate in 2005 while working for Dart Electrical in Wetaskiwin. He then worked for Evraz doing electrical maintenance before moving back to Camrose in 2009 to work for CEL Electric doing commercial electrical jobs. Derrick was very proud of his many projects.

Derrick loved cooking for his family and friends. Some of the favorites were the best smoked BBQ ribs, homemade pizza, homemade cabbage rolls, homemade batter used to deep fry cod, and homemade fries. His children loved making pizza with their Dad. Derrick was an excellent swimmer, a skill he taught to his children.

Derrick is survived by his parents Ron and Debra Wensley; children Dederick (Jenna), Trisha (Jake Ratushniak), Joshua, and Jeremy; grandchildren Aaliyah and Markus; brother Jaron (Cassie); nephew Chance Horne; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Derrick was predeceased by his grandparents Les and Irene Wensley, and Art and Hazel Walger. 

Due to Alberta Health regulations, a private family service was held. 

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Derrick's memory may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.
