Bernice Shirley Bolding

(June 28, 1943 - August 19, 2021)

Bernice Shirley Bolding of Bawlf, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the age of 78 years.

Bernice was born on June 28th, 1943 to Tom and Irene Campbell of Round Hill. She has five siblings named Marilyn, Vernon, Linda, Dwayne and Eldon.
Bernice went to a Mennonite Sunday School and then to Round Hill School. She had a knack for math and later became a bank teller. She enjoyed working in retail and always enjoyed managing the cash till.

Bernice married Willis Bolding of Bawlf in 1962. They lived in Grand Prairie and Nisku before they moved to the farm of Willis’s mother in 1967 that they purchased. They dairy farmed there for 40 years. Their sons, Kevin and Darren, were born on May 23, 1964 and September 7, 1968, respectively. Darren married Andrea Butlin on May 21, 2017.
Bernice had a love for gardening and cooking for her family and friends. She took pride in having a very large garden that she continued right to her passing. She enjoyed canning jams, pickles, fruits; baking pies and cookies; and creating the best pierogis and lefsa for Christmas celebrations.

Bernice had a very strong faith in God and actively attended and supported Skudesness Lutheran Church of the Bawlf Lutheran Parish.

Bernice and her husband had a love for travel. They have driven across Canada, north to Alaska, and south to most of the United States. They also visited Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and New Zealand to visit Darren when he lived there.

Most of all, Bernice loved being with family and friends. Willis and Bernice would take their motorhome and camp with friends at various lakes around Alberta. Bernice loved to floor curl and play the card game of Ski-Bo; and always enjoyed winning.

Bernice’s grandchild, Julianna, was born on November 7, 2017.  Julianna was the girl that she always wanted to have after raising two boys. She was most fond of telling stories about Julianna to all her friends and family.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Willis; sons Kevin, and Darren (Andrea Butlin); granddaughter Julianna Bolding; siblings Marilyn (Ken) Olson, Linda (Bryan) Simonson, Dwayne (Linda) Campbell, Eldon (Sandra) Campbell; and sister-in-law Dianne Campbell.

Bernice was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Irene Campbell; and brother Vernon Campbell.

A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., August 26, 2021, from the Messiah Lutheran Church, 4810 - 50th Street Camrose with Rev. Bev Swanson officiating. Interment has taken place in the Skudesness Cemetery.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Bernice's memory may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.
