Mrs. Dorothy McGaughey (nee: Ferbey) of Camrose, Alberta was born December 10, 1926 at Myrnam, Alberta to Harry and Mary Ferbey. She passed away on Friday, June 20, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital, Camrose, Alberta at the age of 81 years. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters Carol McGaughey of Camrose, Alberta and Bonnie (Garry) Walton of Medicine Hat, Alberta; three grandchildren Andrew Schurman, Calli Walton and Catherine Walton; her two brothers Bill (Tilly) Ferbey and Otto (Jean) Skeich; three sisters Kay (Urban, deceased) Knabel, Jean (Ralph) Thornton and Anne (Metro) Hruschak. Dorothy will also be missed by Andy's surviving siblings Jim (Alice) McGaughey and Margaret (Jim, deceased) Bogle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Margret and Bent Pedersen and their family. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Andy in 1980; her parents Harry and Mary Ferbey; one brother Nick Ferbey; one sister Marie Schedlosky. She was also predeceased by Andy's parents, four sisters and four brothers. Mom valued the traditions of family, home and friendship. She loved nature and creating her landscaped gardens. She particularly enjoyed a good laugh, her country music, special tea times and a game of crib with family and friends. Dorothy always enjoyed a game of checkers and won every time. No matter what was going on in Mom's life, she had an amazing ability to guide and help anyone in need with her wisdom and support. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Camrose with Rev. Eduardo Escober as celebrant. Graveside Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from the Riverview Cemetery, Drayton Valley, Alberta with Rev. Christian Nwaigwe as celebrant. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the S.P.C.A or to a charity of your choice.
