Gerald Walter George

(April 19, 1946 - December 10, 2020)

Gerald Walter George of Camrose, AB, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the age of 74 years.

Gerald George was born on April 19, 1946 in Foam Lake Saskatchewan. He was one of eight children to Arthur and Isabell (Margaret) George. Gerald grew up on the family farm and attended school at Foam Lake and Leslie. 

Gerald was very active with sports and work. He enjoyed playing baseball in the summer and curling in the winter.  When he was done school Gerald would help out on farms around the area and worked at Co-op implements. In the late 60’s he moved to Manitoba to go diamond drill mining and work construction. He moved to Edmonton in the mid 70’s where he worked at his brother Arthur’s snowmobile shop for a short while. In 1987 he started a job at Edmonton Public School Board warehouse. Gerald, Karen, and Bradley moved to an acreage on Miquelon lake in 2001. He would continue working various positions at the school board for 29 years. He retired on his 70th Birthday, April 19th 2016.

Gerald dearly loved his wife and children. Michael George born November 21, 1980, and Bradley George born August 4, 1989. He married the love of his life Karen Young, on April 22, 1989. He enjoyed many things in life such as hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, quadding, working on vehicles, or renos on the house. Later in life, he loved to go on cruises and travel with his wife. Gerald was always willing to give a hand to friends, family or neighbours with whatever they may need.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons Mike (Sarah) George of Thompson, MB, and Brad (Sadie) George of Camrose; four grandchildren; and siblings Arthur (Val) George of Edmonton, Ernest (Loretta) George of Saskatoon, SK, Arnold (Nola) George of Leslie, SK, and Gloria (Wayne) Jackson of Buffalo Point, MB. Gerald was predeceased by his wife Karen; parents Arthur and Margaret George; and sisters Elsie George, Helen Burnett, and Sharon Skjerven.
 

A private family service was held. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery.
