Frederick Kenneth Davis (Jr.)

(February 11, 1944 - July 6, 2020)

Fred Kenneth Davis (Jr.) of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the age of 76 years.

Fred was born in Widewater, Alberta to Frederick Kenneth Davis and Reva Geraldine Davis.  He was the oldest son in a family of two girls and four boys. Fred grew up in the Yukon and NWT until he was 14 years old.  They relocated to Kingman, Alberta in 1958.  Fred continued his schooling in Kingman until he went to work with Seismic crew, travelling as far as Alaska to work.  At age 18, Fred asked Gwen for a first date. Their first date was at a movie in Camrose.  They dated for a year, were engaged for a year, and then married in Kingman on October 3, 1964.  By this time Fred had changed careers and was working for Alberta Wheat Pool seed cleaning plant in Grande Prairie.  Their next move was to Edmonton for another business adventure.  Gwen and Fred leased a Shell service station for a period of time.

Gwen and Fred had three sons from 1965-1971, Frederick Kenneth Calvin, John Alden, and Darren Scott.  After settling down back in Kingman for four years they decided to move to Camrose. After a short stint, they moved up to Lac La Biche.  Fred then became involved in Camrose Coach lines as a driver so back to Camrose it was.  For 38 years Gwen and Fred owned and operated Bi West Translines Ltd.  In 2000 they built their shop.  This is the same year Fred had his quad bi-pass surgery. In 2015, Fred and Gwen retired from a company they were passionate about running. To pass time they have travelled as much as possible enjoying many trips with their children and families.  Through 55 plus years of marriage, Fred and Gwen were inseparable enjoying every day together and living life to the fullest.

Fred and Gwen have been blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two on the way!  Although Fred had a tough-looking exterior shell, he was a kind soft-hearted teddy bear who would have given the shirt off his back for anyone. For all of us who have had the honor to know him, we know he will be greatly missed in our lives.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Gwendolyn; and his three children Ken (Melody), John (Rhonda), and Darren (Tammy); his grandchildren Alyssa (Reg), Breanne, Halle (Austin), Courtney (Jordan), Danton (Amber), Brennan, and Kara; and his great-grandchildren Chet, Addi, Coy, Mya, and Easton. Fred was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Reva; and sisters Lorraine and Trudy.

A come and go reception was held from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Bi West Translines (4225 37 St, Camrose, AB), Saturday, July 11, 2020. For any questions, please contact John at 780-781-2002.
