Obituary of Milton Mosand

Milton Mosand

(March 30, 1922 - March 5, 2020)

Milton Mosand of Bashaw, Alberta, formerly of Bawlf, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the age of 97 years.

Milton was born on March 30, 1922 to Marit and Arnt Mosand on the family farm north of Bawlf.

Growing up with four brothers and a sister, Milton had an active childhood.  With twin brother Alton, he attended Allied country school and participated in local sports, Luther league and choir.  He also enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo.

In 1953 Milton married Florence Gertsch and they took over the family farm.  Together they raised three children, David, Laurie and Kathleen.  In addition to farming, Milton also drove school bus for over 20 years.

Known by family and friends as Milt or Slim, he was always happy to take time for a visit.  He enjoyed working out in his shop and in his later years, spent numerous hours making horse drawn buggies.

Milton remained on the farm until September 2015, when he moved to the Bashaw Meadows Lodge, where he resided until his passing.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Laurie (Colleen) of Bawlf and Kathleen (Reg) Hauser of Leduc; grandchildren Lindsay (David) Jacobsen of Camrose, Kirsten Mosand (Matt Hawkes) of Red Deer, Scott Hauser of Cochrane and Mike Hauser (Breanna Hansen) of Edmonton; and great-grandchildren Barrett Jacobsen and Jensen Jacobsen and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Milton was predeceased by his wife Florence, son David, brothers Jarvin, Arnold, Raymond and Alton, and sister Irene.

A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2020 from the Bawlf Lutheran Church with Rev. Calvin Skriver officiating.
