Vinda Nora Crossman

(December 4, 1944 - February 29, 2020)

Vinda Nora Crossman of Red Deer passed away peacefully at Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 29th, 2020 with family by her side. Vinda was born in New Glasgow Nova Scotia in 1944 and grew up in the area.

She met the love of her life Fred in 1964 and later married in 1965. They kept a busy household as between 1966 and 1978 they had seven children. In 1981 they moved the family to Alberta to start a new life. Vinda was a stay at home mom who did everything she could to raise the children right.

In the early years Vinda and the family enjoyed camping and did so often. As the children got older and left on their own journeys in life Vinda and Fred began enjoying fishing and going to rodeos all over Alberta. Rodeos were a huge love of Vindas! In 1993 Vinda and Fred took on raising their grandchild Kimberley. In 2006 Fred became quite ill and Vinda being an amazing wife took all her time to look after him until losing him in 2017. After the loss of Fred Vinda began spending most of her days visiting family and enjoyed playing dice games and cribbage on her computer. Vinda was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an amazing woman with a huge heart and loved all her family and friends unconditionally. Vinda will be missed terribly by everyone who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Steve (Irene Nagy) of Stouffville, ON, Darlene (Lawrence) Forsyth of Red Deer, John (Tanya) of Red Deer, Douglas (Shawna Best) of Camrose, Victor (Pauline) of Red Deer, Michael of Ontario, Jason of Red Deer; granddaughter Kimberly, as well as, twenty-two other grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and siblings Angie Stewart of Nova Scotia, John Zugay of Nova Scotia, Charlie Zugay of Nova Scotia, Carl Zugay of New Brunswick, Ann-Marie Zugay of Nova Scotia, and Beatrice Rice of Nova Scotia.

Vinda was predeceased by her husband Frederick; parents Felix and Angelina Zugay; one brother and three sisters.

A Funeral Mass was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 from the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, with Father Joby Augustin as celebrant.
