Norman William Tennant

(December 16, 1935 - November 27, 2019)

Norman William Tennant of Bawlf, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the age of 83 years.

Norman was born on December 16, 1935 to Bill and Sophie Tennant at the Station House in Bawlf, Alberta. He was raised on the family farm in the Likeness area where he attended school and later in Ryley until his sixteenth birthday. At this time he began his general trucking business, where he hauled everything from milk to coal, cheese to livestock, lumber to grain, and even helped people move. In the fifties Norman began farming with his dad, and also continued his trucking business. In 1965, he married Kathleen Roth and they moved to a farm North of Bawlf where they spent fifty-four years together. They welcomed their son Daryl Norman on October 12, 1969 and Marilyn Kathleen on May 16, 1971. In the 1970s he retired from trucking and continued farming full-time raising pigs and grain farming with his dad.
Community was important to Norman, he was a Charter member of the Bawlf Lions Club and also a community volunteer. Norman enjoyed playing ball, curling along with numerous hunting trips with his close friends and fishing/camping with the Kinnee’s and Hagens. His biggest enjoyment was his grandchildren; Brett, Halley, Jared, Jenna, Jessica, Zachary, and Wyatt, and in grandpa’s eyes they could do no wrong. His other hobbies included playing bingo and going to “work” at the casino. He also found great pleasure in meeting new people and visiting with old friends. He continued to farm with his son and grandsons until his stroke in the fall of 2018.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Kathleen; son Daryl (Karen); daughter Marilyn (Mark) Hay; seven grandchildren; and his twin sister Norma.
Norman was predeceased by his parents Bill and Sophie Tennant.
