Kathie Elaine Gillis

(October 3, 1956 - September 18, 2019)

 

On Wednesday, September 18th at St. Mary’s Hospital with her husband of 37 years by her side, Kathie Elaine Gillis nee Patterson passed away peacefully.


Beloved wife of Paul Gillis and mother of Christina Fisher, Amanda Pride and James Gillis. Mother-in-law to Steve Fisher and Chris Pride and cherished grandmother to Katie and Emily Pride and MacKenzie Fisher. Sister to Debbie Patterson and Patti Smith and daughter of the late James and Isobel Patterson.


After getting married in 1982, Paul and Kathie moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta where they started Waterworks Plumbing and Heating.  In 2002 they moved to Camrose, Alberta. A successful business woman, Kathie opened Take A Second Look in 2011.


While battling scleroderma and cancer Kathie devoted much of her time to creating memories with her family and continued to be a passionate volunteer for various organizations in Camrose. While she will be deeply missed, her family is thankful for the time they spent with her. 

 

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Paul; daughters Christina (Steve) Fisher of Calgary and Amanda (Christopher) Pride of Kensington, PEI; son James Gillis of Camrose; grandchildren Katie Pride, Emily Pride and Mackenzie Fisher; and sisters Debbie Patterson of London, Ontario and Pattie Smith of Goderich, Ontario.

 

Kathie was predeceased by her parents James and Isobel Patterson. 

 

A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2019 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, 4817 - 51 Avenue Camrose with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating.
