Anna Marie Ellert

(September 1, 1943 - August 22, 2019)

Anna Marie Ellert of Camrose, Alberta, formerly of Milk River and Fort McMurray, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the age of 75 years.

Anna was born in Lethbridge Alberta to Albert and RoseMarie Thielen. Anna had eleven siblings.

She grew up on the family farm close to Milk River, and attended a one room school house in Masinasin. Later she went to Earle Rivers High School in Milk River and played basketball, softball and curled. She met and fell in love with Glen Warren Ellert and married him in April 1966.

After acquiring her teaching degree, Glen and Anna stayed in Milk River, welcoming three daughters into the family; Kathryn in 1967, Teri in 1969 and Jean in 1971.

In 1973 the family moved to Fort McMurray for work and play. Curling, camping, competitive shooting, and trips throughout Canada. Retiring in 2000, they moved to Camrose where Anna started quilting. She loved quilting in all its aspects and won awards for many creations.

Trips with Glen included Africa, Alaska, cruises, and Eastern Canada.

Her eight grandchildren and five granddogs always brought a smile to her face. Card playing, quilting, cooking, and watching the BlueJays play ball filled their time together.
Twenty winters were spent in Arizona where they met many friends from all over North America. Visiting, golfing, sewing, watching parajumpers, dinners out and warm nights with Glen made her very happy.

Anna enjoyed life to the fullest and passed this joy on to her family. She was an energetic, spiritual, caring, loving, happy, carefree wife, mother, grandmother, friend, colleague and person. She will be missed deeply.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Glen; children Kathy Ellert (Herb Smith), Teri Ellert (Tyler Shelton), and Jean (Brent) Ockerman; eight grandchildren Paul Mickelsen, Benjamin Mickelsen, Jacob Mickelsen, Vanessa Ockerman, Corbin Ockerman, Evan Ockerman, Vaughn Ockerman, Kale Ockerman; sisters Mary Catherine Miller, Loretta Schwartzenberger, Esther (Jack) Nelson, and Louise (Kirt) Thompson; and brothers Paul (Marlene) Thielen, and Herman (Sharon) Thielen.

Anna was predeceased by her parents Albert and Rose; infant sister Angela;  sisters Frances Wilson, Margaret Roth, and Barbara Giroux; and twin sister Alma Elliot.
