Elmer Hans Coen

(January 18, 1935 - July 20, 2019)

Elmer Hans Coen of Camrose, Alberta, formerly of Ferintosh, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the age of 84 years.

Hans was born on January 18, 1935 on the family farm near Ferintosh to Jim and Irene Coen. He was the oldest brother to Shirley, Maureen and Sharon. Hans attended school through high school in Ferintosh. He then continued farming with his dad on the family farm. On August 15, 1957 he married Ruby Westfall and they raised their family of four on the farm. Everyone participated with the farming activities along with good times at Coen beach on Red Deer Lake. In 1998, Hans and Ruby moved to Camrose where they enjoyed meeting new friends and weekly dances at the Senior Centre. During this time of semi-retirement, Hans swathed and combined for neighbors and also enjoyed hunting gophers, doing puzzles and reading. 

Hans leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters Julie (Craig) Lindholm, Karen Boden (Neil Lohr), and Patty Anderson (Rob Staldeker); son Michael (Laura); sister Sharon Mackenzie; brother-in-law Melvin Westfall; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.
Hans was predeceased by his wife Ruby; parents James and Irene Coen; sisters Maureen Schell and Shirley Graff; sons-in-law Brian Anderson and Dennis Boden. 

A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2019 from the CityLights Church (4920 48 Street Camrose) with Rev. Mary Ann Pastuck officiating. Interment has taken place in the Central Valley Cemetery, Ferintosh.
