Please share a memory of Ellen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ellen Marie Ekdahl

(March 3, 1937 - July 16, 2019)

Ellen Marie Ekdahl was born in Tofield, AB on March 3, 1937.  Ellen married the love of her life Carl Gustav Ekdahl on June 14, 1956.  They lived at the Ekdahl farm where Ellen had to learn very quickly to adjust to farm life with no running water, no electricity and only a cook stove for heating (which she had to learn to cook on).  The farm was little to begin with, however, with their hard work, determination, and seven children, Ellen and Gustav grew the farm to support their large family. In 1987, after all the children had moved out, Ellen worked part-time at Camrose Lutheran College until she retired in 2002.  Ellen was always so proud of the farm, she loved having visitors, sharing stories and laughter with many people.  Ellen continued to reside at the farm after Gustav passed in 2004, taking pride in maintaining the yard with her beloved John Deere Lawn Mower, and having many neighbours and friends to look in on her.  Ellen stayed involved with the farm until 2018.
Ellen loved to cook and everyone especially enjoyed her Swedish meatballs, her raspberry jam, and homemade buns.  She was well known in the Kingman community for many things, one of them being the famous Lutefisk Meal held in Kingman every December which she helped to prepare every year.  She enjoyed going to the Kingman Baptist Church every Sunday until her health made it impossible.  In 2014 due to health issues, Ellen moved into Camrose.
With more help than we could ever mention from Auntie Louisa, Brenda Garrison and in this last year Hanna De Jesus, whom we are forever thankful for, Ellen was able to stay in her home until the time came for her to pass away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on July 16, 2019.
Ellen will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
